On November 06, 2025, Hanoi University held an important academic event in partnership with the Portuguese Department, bringing together Brazilian and Vietnamese authorities, as well as students and professors. The program featured lectures by Dr. Roy Reis Friede, Federal Judge of the Second Region of Brazil, and Marcelle Torres, Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Rio de Janeiro and member of the Brazil Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The central theme was Brazil and Vietnam at the Center of a Promising Future.

During the reception, Vice Rector Nguyen Tien Dung highlighted that HANU is the only Vietnamese university offering Portuguese language programs at a higher education level, promoting teaching, research, and international cooperation. The Director of the Portuguese Department, Mrs. Nguyen Vu Thu Ha, emphasized the role of the language as a cultural bridge between both countries. The Vice President of the Chamber, Natã Oliveira, represented the institution and reinforced the commitment to educational and academic integration.

Dr. Reis Friede expressed positive surprise with the Portuguese training offered at HANU and stated that the strengthening of bilateral relations will create opportunities for Brazilians to learn about Vietnamese culture. He committed to supporting initiatives that connect educational institutions in both countries. He later joined a discussion with students on diplomacy, economy, culture, and future prospects for Brazil and Vietnam.

The event provided students with the opportunity to practice the language and expand their understanding of international relations. The initiative reinforces HANU’s role as a reference in Lusophone studies and strengthens new academic partnerships between the two countries.
