Meeting in Hanoi opens new opportunities for sports cooperation between Brazil and Vietnam, including the possibility of sending a Brazilian coach to support Vietnam’s national team
On September 30, 2026, the Brazil Vietnam Chamber (BVC) held a meeting in Hanoi with Vietnamese sports authorities to discuss opportunities for cooperation and the promotion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Vietnam.
The meeting focused primarily on the development of the sport in Vietnam and the identification of concrete opportunities for exchange between Brazil and Vietnam in the sports sector. During the meeting, Vietnamese authorities presented opportunities and needs related to the development of Jiu-Jitsu, including the possibility of sending a Brazilian coach to support the Vietnamese national team, contributing to the technical development of athletes and the strengthening of the sport in the country.
The meeting was attended by Nguyen Trong Ho, Deputy Director of the Department of Physical Education and Sports of Vietnam; Tran Van Thach, Jiu-Jitsu official at the Department; Dang Van Sau, Principal Specialist of the Administration Division; and Pham Thai Duong, journalist at the Sports Information Center. Representing the BVC were Natã Oliveira, Head of the BVC Representative Office in Vietnam; Fernando Muramatsu, Vice President of the BVC; and Luna Pham, BVC interpreter. Luis Felipe Yonezawa Fernandes, Secretary at the Embassy of Brazil in Hanoi, also participated in the meeting.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu: A New Bridge Between Brazil and Vietnam
Brazil is one of the world’s leading references in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a discipline that has gained international recognition for its tradition, athlete development and technical expertise.
For the BVC, the expansion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Vietnam represents an opportunity to strengthen relations between the two countries beyond trade and investment, creating new possibilities for sports exchanges, professional training, athlete development and institutional cooperation.
The possibility of Brazilian professionals contributing to the development of the Vietnamese national team also demonstrates the potential for knowledge exchange between the two countries, bringing Brazilian and Vietnamese sports institutions and specialists closer together.
This initiative is part of the BVC’s efforts to bring Brazil and Vietnam closer together across different sectors and transform institutional relationships into concrete opportunities for cooperation.
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu therefore emerges as another important bridge between the two countries, bringing to Vietnam not only a sport in which Brazil has a strong tradition, but also knowledge, methodology, training and values that can contribute to the development of Vietnamese sports.
