Comex Day Porto Alegre 2026 brought together business leaders, professionals, students and stakeholders from the foreign trade sector at the FARSUL auditorium, located in the Cidade Baixa district, reinforcing its role as an important forum for reflection and exchange of experiences on the direction of international operations in Brazil. Promoted by CISBRA through CAERGS, the Rio Grande do Sul Foreign Trade Chamber, the event celebrated the opening of Brazilian ports, a historic milestone essential to the country’s economic development, while also presenting a current and strategic agenda focused on the challenges of 2026.

The program opened with a panel on the new Brazilian foreign trade legislation, led by Augusto Oliveira Neto, vice president of the Maritime, Port, Customs and Waterway Law Commission of the Brazilian Bar Association. The analysis of recent regulatory changes and their practical impacts provided valuable insights for exporters and importers who must adapt to an increasingly complex regulatory environment. This was followed by a presentation from Thaísa Rodrigues, from the Foreign Trade Council of FIERGS, who offered a strategic perspective on the Mercosur European Union Agreement, highlighting opportunities and challenges for industry in Rio Grande do Sul and for Brazil’s positioning in the global market.

The discussion then moved to transport and ports, featuring Sérgio Luiz Klein from FIERGS and Wilen Manteli, president of HidroviasRS. The panel emphasized the importance of logistics and inland waterway infrastructure as a decisive factor for the competitiveness of foreign trade operations in the state. It also highlighted how investment, modal integration and operational efficiency are key to reducing costs and expanding the international presence of Brazilian companies.

The presence of Mr. Oscar Plentz, representing the Brazil Vietnam Chamber, reinforced the institutional relevance of the event and the commitment of the participating entities to strengthening foreign trade, fostering dialogue between the public and private sectors, and building bridges between different markets. Comex Day Porto Alegre fulfilled its role as a qualified space for knowledge sharing, networking and strategic planning, contributing to more informed decision making and to the strengthening of the future of Brazilian foreign trade.
