The official visit of Vietnamese Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, to Brazil, on the occasion of the BRICS Summit, marked a historic moment for bilateral relations between the two countries. The agenda was intense and full of symbolism, strengthening ties of friendship and strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.

Among the highlights, the President of the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Brazil Vietnam Chamber), Victor Key, and the Vice-President Natã Oliveira had the honor to meet personally with the Prime Minister. Special mention goes to Marcelle Torres, responsible for the official agenda and supporting the organization of the delegation, who played a key role in coordinating and accompanying the meeting.

Another highlight was the Vietnam-Brazil Business Forum, which brought together Vietnamese authorities and major Brazilian companies such as JBS, Cecil, Embraer, and Fujikura, along with the active participation of the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber. The event reinforced the interest of both countries in expanding investments and business opportunities, especially in the animal protein processing sector, identified by the Prime Minister as strategic for Vietnam’s economy.

During official meetings, a commercial milestone was celebrated: the first export of Brazilian beef to Vietnam and the first export of Vietnamese tilapia to Brazil, consolidating the complementarity between the two economies.

Authorities also emphasized the potential for cooperation in areas such as agriculture, defense, sports, mining, biofuels, and the environment. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva also reaffirmed MERCOSUR’s interest, under Brazil’s presidency, in initiating negotiations for a trade agreement with Vietnam.

In a global context of rising protectionism, both leaders highlighted the importance of economic integration and strengthening joint value chains, announcing the upcoming organization of bilateral business missions to expand trade and investment opportunities.

Another notable outcome of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Science, Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation, paving the way for joint projects with significant impact on sustainable development.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also wished Brazil success in hosting COP-30, to be held in Belém (PA) in November 2025, and confirmed Vietnam’s participation, reinforcing the country’s engagement in the global climate agenda.

The visit was even more significant with the announcement that Vietnam becomes a partner of BRICS, strengthening its international role and opening new avenues for multilateral cooperation.

This journey on Brazilian soil not only consolidated tangible advances in trade and investment but also strengthened a vision of the future where Brazil and Vietnam move forward together as strategic, cultural, and economic partners.
