SOS Vietnam: the power of solidarity between Brazil and Vietnam in the campaign to support flood victims

26/12/2025

When floods and landslides devastated central Vietnam, leaving thousands of families homeless and without access to basic necessities, the Brazil Vietnam Chamber decided to act. What began as an emergency response quickly evolved into a movement of solidarity, bringing together Brazilians, Vietnamese, companies, institutional partners, and citizens around a shared goal: providing concrete and immediate assistance to the affected communities.

The SOS Vietnam campaign took place between December 4 and December 26, 2025, a period during which efforts were concentrated on responding swiftly and effectively to the severity of the situation.

A situation of urgency

The provinces of Đắk Lắk, Khánh Hòa, and Gia Lai, as well as the cities of Huế and Đà Nẵng, were severely impacted. Homes were destroyed, schools flooded, roads blocked, and entire crops lost. Thousands of people not only faced the immediate consequences of the disaster but also the risk of a prolonged crisis involving health, food security, and housing.

In light of this situation, the Chamber understood that it could not remain inactive.

The mobilization

The campaign was structured swiftly, with direct coordination between Brazil and Vietnam, and was based on joint coordination between the Brazil Vietnam Chamber and the organization One Heart for Healing (OHH).

OHH is an organization with more than 10 years of experience in Vietnam in the fields of health and education, founded by Brazilian Natã Oliveira. Its local expertise and deep understanding of regional realities were essential in aligning the campaign with the most urgent needs of the affected communities.

Due to the logistical impracticality of sending supplies from Brazil, the campaign focused on financial donations. This approach enabled the immediate purchase of food, drinking water, medicines, hygiene kits, and emergency shelter items directly in Vietnam, ensuring speed and efficiency in the assistance provided.

Community and corporate engagement

Participation in the SOS Vietnam campaign stood out for its diversity and spirit of solidarity. Brazilians with ties to Vietnam, business leaders already operating in the country, members of the Vietnamese community in Brazil, and numerous anonymous supporters all contributed meaningfully.

Support from companies such as JBS, Renner, Fujikura Quail Genetics, and Mundo Asia reinforced the role of the private sector as an active agent of social responsibility and international cooperation. Alongside individual donations, these contributions demonstrated that collective solidarity, even when built from contributions of varying amounts, can create real and lasting impact.

A demonstration of partnership and humanity

More than an emergency response, the SOS Vietnam campaign reaffirmed a core value of the Brazil Vietnam Chamber: the belief that solidarity knows no borders. Brazilians and Vietnamese came together for a common cause, showing that international cooperation extends beyond economic relations and is also expressed through care for people.

The success of this mobilization leaves an important legacy. In addition to directly supporting affected communities, the initiative strengthened bonds of trust, dialogue, and humanitarian collaboration between Brazil and Vietnam, laying solid foundations for future joint actions.

The Brazil Vietnam Chamber extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who contributed, shared, and supported the SOS Vietnam campaign. Together, it was possible to bring hope when it was needed most.
