On December 16, 2025, the Vietnamese Embassy in Brazil held a hybrid seminar in Brasília on Opportunities for the Development of the Vietnam-Brazil Smart Agriculture Value Chain, bringing together representatives from governments, research institutions, sector associations and companies from both countries. The event focused on technological innovation, sustainability and the strengthening of strategic partnerships in the agricultural sector.
The seminar highlighted the central role of smart agriculture in addressing global challenges such as climate change, food security and increasing traceability requirements. In his opening remarks, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Brazil, Bùi Văn Nghị, emphasized Vietnam’s progress in modernizing its agricultural sector through the adoption of technologies such as the Internet of Things, drones, smart sensors and digital traceability systems, which have significantly improved productivity and efficiency.
Throughout the discussions, it was emphasized that Brazil and Vietnam share similar challenges and have strong complementarities. Bilateral cooperation was presented as a strategic tool to expand knowledge exchange, promote technology transfer and develop joint projects focused on precision agriculture, cold chain management, animal health and sustainable practices.
During the seminar, Mirela Janice Eidt, Chief of Staff of Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, highlighted that agricultural cooperation between the two countries has entered a concrete phase since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding in 2018, covering areas such as agricultural machinery, forestry, fisheries and biofuels. She also mentioned her future role as Brazil’s agricultural attaché in Vietnam, starting in February 2026, as an important step toward strengthening technical dialogue and accelerating joint initiatives.
Representing the Brazil Vietnam Chamber, Victor Key and Dionathan Santos were present, reinforcing the institution’s role in connecting companies, governments and research centers and in promoting concrete partnerships between the agricultural ecosystems of both countries.
The event also brought together representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Brazilian ministries and state governments, as well as agricultural associations. The discussions underscored mutual interest in expanding technical and commercial cooperation aligned with innovation, sustainability and competitiveness.
