Brazil-Vietnam: 35 Years of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Brazil and Vietnam were established in 1989. The Brazilian Embassy in Hanoi was inaugurated in 1994, and Vietnam opened its Embassy in Brasília in the year 2000.

Brazil and Vietnam maintain two mechanisms for regular dialogue: consultations on matters of mutual interest and the joint commission, established in 1995 and 2008, respectively.

    - Action Plan 2024-2025 between the Rio Branco Institute and the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam.
  • 2024The Prime Minister of Vietnam participated in the G20 in Brazil

    - The Prime Minister of Vietnam, Pham Minh Chinh, participated in the G20 summit in Brazil. On this occasion, the elevation of the countries' relations to a Strategic Partnership was signed.
  • 2025Official visit of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to Vietnam

    - Signed agreements:
    - Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategic Partnership;
    - Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam;
