The Brazil Vietnam Chamber (BVC) participated on Monday, July 6, 2026, in an institutional meeting between the Brazilian Association for the Promotion of Fish and Seafood (ABRAPES) and the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening trade and institutional relations between Brazil and Vietnam.
The meeting brought together representatives from ABRAPES, including Thamires Quinhões, Rafael Camacho, Victor Arruda, Roberto Junqueira, Ricardo Oposlki, and Camila Lisboa. The BVC was represented by Victor Key. On the Vietnamese side, participants included Tân Nguyễn and Lan To from VASEP, as well as Trang Pham Hong from the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil.
During the meeting, participants discussed the main regulatory challenges and the political landscape surrounding imports of Vietnamese tilapia into Brazil. Both organizations emphasized the importance of ensuring that trade and regulatory decisions are based on scientific evidence, providing transparency, predictability, and legal certainty for the continued development of bilateral trade.
Another key topic was the planning of joint initiatives to expand cooperation between the Brazilian and Vietnamese seafood industries. Among these initiatives is the upcoming Vietnamese business delegation to Brazil, scheduled for October 2026 during Seafood Show Latin America in São Paulo. The mission is expected to further strengthen dialogue among companies, industry associations, and government authorities from both countries.
Throughout the discussions, Brazilian and Vietnamese representatives reaffirmed their commitment to promoting accurate technical information, combating misinformation, and maintaining continuous dialogue between the public and private sectors. Their shared objective is to foster a stable and balanced trade environment that benefits the entire seafood value chain and consumers alike.
The participation of the Brazil Vietnam Chamber in this meeting reinforces its role as a strategic bridge between Brazil and Vietnam, promoting institutional dialogue, supporting cooperation initiatives, and contributing to the expansion of economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
