Meeting between the two organizations discussed internationalization strategies for small and medium-sized businesses in São Paulo, one month ahead of the Chamber’s business mission to Vietnam
The Brazil Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry held an institutional visit on July 14 to the Federation of Commerce of Goods, Services and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP), at the Federation’s headquarters. The meeting had an official character and aimed to formalize the relationship between the two organizations, expanding institutional dialogue around trade between Brazil and Vietnam.
Institutional representation
The Brazil Vietnam Chamber (BVC) was represented by its president, Victor Key, and by the Chamber’s advisor, Maria Helena Afonso. FecomercioSP was represented by the president of the International Relations Council and vice president of the entity, Rubens Medrano, along with advisors Natália Tafarello and Douglas Dias.
The meeting is part of the Chamber’s institutional outreach agenda, which seeks to expand partnerships with business representation entities in Brazil as a way of strengthening the reach of its initiatives among the national business community.
Purpose of the meeting
The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss ways to broaden access for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs from São Paulo to the Vietnamese market, with particular focus on businesses from the state’s interior, which historically face greater technical and logistical challenges when internationalizing.
During the meeting, the Chamber presented an overview of business opportunities in Vietnam, highlighting sectors such as apparel, home decor, food and beverages, and household goods. FecomercioSP, in turn, presented the work it carries out with its affiliated trade associations to spread a culture of foreign trade among companies that currently operate only in the domestic market.
Institutional context
The visit takes place just over a month before the start of the business mission the Chamber will lead to Ho Chi Minh City, from August 31 to September 9, in partnership with Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade. The partnership with FecomercioSP adds to the network of institutional cooperation the Federation already maintains with chambers of commerce, trade offices, and consultants in countries such as Portugal, Poland, and Chile.
At the close of the meeting, FecomercioSP’s International Relations Council formally invited the Brazil Vietnam Chamber to present opportunities in the Vietnamese market at one of its upcoming meetings, giving institutional continuity to the partnership that has now begun.
