Business mission brings Santa Rita do Sapucaí closer to one of Asia’s most dynamic technology ecosystems and opens new opportunities for cooperation between Brazil and Vietnam
The Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce (BVC) organized a business mission to Vietnam to connect companies and institutions from the Vale da Eletrônica, in Santa Rita do Sapucaí, Minas Gerais, with one of the technology ecosystems making the fastest advances in Asia.
Taking place from August 3 to 12, the mission brings together representatives of the Union of Electrical, Electronic and Similar Industries of the Vale da Eletrônica (SINDVEL), entrepreneurs from the region and representatives of Sebrae Minas, with an agenda focused primarily on semiconductors, microelectronics, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, innovation and professional training.
The initiative was structured by the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce in partnership with SINDVEL and Sebrae Minas, with the objective of creating concrete connections between the two ecosystems and identifying opportunities for business, investment, technological cooperation and joint development.
The mission takes place at a strategic moment for Brazil’s technology industry. The need to diversify global supply chains, the growing importance of semiconductors and the search for greater technological autonomy make closer ties with Vietnam particularly relevant for Brazilian companies.
From the Vale da Eletrônica to Vietnam’s Technology Ecosystem
Santa Rita do Sapucaí is nationally recognized as one of Brazil’s leading technology and electronics hubs. Over the decades, the city has developed an ecosystem comprising companies, educational institutions, research centers, specialized professionals and organizations supporting innovation.
The mission seeks to connect this knowledge and business capabilities with Vietnam’s experience in strategic areas of the technology industry.
The mission had as one of its objectives strengthening the technological autonomy of the Vale da Eletrônica and adding greater value to Brazilian electronics production.
According to information released during the mission, among its main objectives are identifying opportunities for cooperation in chips, memories, semiconductors and dedicated technologies, as well as opportunities for technology transfer, professional training and the development of new projects.
The strategy is also related to the need to diversify international partners. For the Brazilian sector, expanding alternatives for supply, production and technological cooperation represents a way to reduce vulnerabilities and increase industrial competitiveness.
Initial Agendas in Hanoi
The program began in Hanoi, where the Brazilian delegation participated in meetings with important institutions within Vietnam’s technology and investment ecosystem.
Among the first engagements were meetings with the Vietnam Electronics Industries Association (VEIA), the Embassy of Brazil in Hanoi, and the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA).
At VEIA, the Brazilian delegation presented the industrial and technological potential of Santa Rita do Sapucaí and discussed opportunities for closer cooperation with Vietnamese companies.
The meeting was attended by VEIA President Nguyễn Văn Đông and Natã Oliveira, Vice President of the Brazil-Vietnam Chamber of Commerce. Among the topics discussed was the creation of permanent cooperation mechanisms to promote investment, technology transfer, business missions and closer ties between companies, universities and innovation centers.
The meeting was highlighted by the Brazilian press as one of the key moments of the mission.
Connecting Companies, Government and Universities
Another important pillar of the mission was to learn about Vietnam’s model for integrating government, companies, universities and innovation centers.
The delegation visited the National Innovation Center (NIC), the Hoa Lac High-Tech Park, Vietnam National University (VNU) and the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).
The visits provided an opportunity to learn about Vietnamese initiatives related to applied research, innovation, technology development, professional training and investment attraction.
More than a traditional business mission, the initiative seeks to build a bridge between two innovation ecosystems.
