Institutional meeting held on October 20 addressed the promotion of Vietnamese seafood in the Brazilian market and technical cooperation between the two countries.

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) and the Brazilian Association for the Promotion of Fish and Seafood (ABRAPES) held an institutional meeting on October 20 during the Seafood Show in São Paulo, Brazil, to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand business opportunities between Brazil and Vietnam in the seafood sector.

The meeting brought together representatives of both organizations to discuss initiatives to promote Vietnamese seafood products in the Brazilian market, exchange technical information, improve institutional communication channels, and develop mechanisms for cooperation and mutual support.

Holding the meeting during the Seafood Show highlighted the importance of industry events and specialized trade fairs as opportunities to strengthen institutional ties, identify potential partners, and explore new international business opportunities.

Representatives of the Organizations and Institutions

Representing the Brazilian Association for the Promotion of Fish and Seafood (ABRAPES) were its President, Mr. Marcel Simões, and Executive Director, Ms. Thamires Quinhões, along with members of the board.

The VASEP delegation was represented by Deputy Secretary-General Ms. To Thi Tuong Lan and Deputy Director Mr. Ha Phuoc Huy.

The meeting also included Mr. Quoc Anh from the Trade Office of the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil, and Mr. Victor Key, President of the Brazil Vietnam Chamber.

The participation of these representatives underscored the importance of cooperation among business associations, institutional representatives, and organizations committed to strengthening economic relations between the two countries.

Technical Cooperation and Opportunities in the Seafood Sector

Vietnam has a strong international presence in aquaculture, seafood processing, and exports. The Brazilian market offers opportunities to expand the presence of Vietnamese seafood products, subject to applicable sanitary and regulatory requirements, market demand, and the needs of local importers.

In this context, cooperation between VASEP and ABRAPES could help bring companies closer together, promote the exchange of information, and facilitate a better understanding of the commercial and technical conditions required to develop new business opportunities.

Improved communication channels between the organizations could also support the identification of potential partners, the promotion of Vietnamese seafood products, and the coordination of specific requests from exporters and importers.

Brazil Vietnam Chamber Highlights the Importance of Business Engagement

According to Mr. Victor Key, President of the Brazil Vietnam Chamber, the meeting represents a positive step toward turning institutional relations between the two countries into concrete business opportunities.

“This meeting is important because it brings together two representative organizations in the sector and creates conditions for more direct and structured engagement. Stronger communication, technical cooperation, and product promotion are essential to developing consistent, long-term commercial relationships,” he said.

The President also emphasized the role of institutional cooperation in creating a more favorable business environment in both markets.

“Bringing business associations closer together is essential to identifying opportunities, understanding each market’s needs, and facilitating connections between companies. The Brazil Vietnam Chamber seeks to contribute to turning initiatives like this into effective business partnerships between Brazil and Vietnam,” he added.
